Applications Due Monday For High School Summer Law Intern Program

Memphis, Tenn.— Applications for the 2013 High School Summer Law Intern Program are due Monday, March 25, 2013. The applications are available for download at www.memphisbar.org or by calling the MBA office at 901.527.3573. Those who have already participated in the program are ineligible to apply.
An initiative by the Diversity Committee of the Memphis Bar Association, the Summer Law Intern Program is in its seventh year. The purpose of the program is to expose minority high school students to the “real world” practice of law and to encourage them to consider law as a career. The students will work at least 60 hours during a four-week period, June 3-28, 2013, and will receive a $500 stipend upon successful completion of the program. Interns will get personal experience in the daily legal workplace of private law firms, corporate law divisions or governmental law offices. Each participating workplace will provide a mentor to the intern, who will assign them duties and assist them in gaining a better understanding of the practice of law.
