DEVON WALKER: TULANE PLAYER HAS FRACTURED SPINE STABILIZED

TULSA, Oklahoma (AP) _ The doctor for Tulane University says it's too early to tell whether football player Devon Walker will be paralyzed from the injury he suffered Saturday. The player's fractured spine has been stabilized in a three-hour operation yesterday. But Dr. Greg Stewart says it sometimes takes as many as three days to determine the severity of spine injuries. For now, Walker is in stable condition and is expected to stay in the intensive care unit of St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the next few days. He was hurt while making a tackle when his helmet collided with a teammate's.
