Tracy Bethea began her illustrious radio career in 1987 in the newsroom of the legendary WDIA in Memphis. As she progressed in her career, she became the female voice of Gospel on WDIA and for 10 years was lovingly known by her audience as “The Young One”.

In the late 1990’s, Tracy was offered the chance of a lifetime, to help launch a 24 hour AM gospel station that featured a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary Gospel music. She served as the Chief Operator of AM 990 The Light and one of its top radio personalities.

Tracy’s success with the station was noted nationally and she was given the coveted Stellar Award Winner for Announcer of the Year. In 2002, she was a part of the Clear Channel launch of 95.7 Hallelujah FM in Memphis, where she serves as Assistant Program/Music Director and Midday Air Personality. In 2010, she joined the judging team for the 4th season of BET Sunday Best Talent Competition and now serves as a board member of the Memphis & Shelby County Commission.

This radio veteran is a member of SAGMA as well as the Memphis Association of Black Journalist, and has furthered her media pursuits as producer the of Gospel Heritage Celebration. She has co-hosted countless radio and panel sessions. She is the instructor at the K.T. Whalum Jr. School of Public Speaking. In November 2010 she launched "The Tracy Bethea Agency" which offers consulting. public relations, markets/brands for upcoming leaders.

Tracy, who is married, and an active member of the New Olivet Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Kenneth T. Whalum Jr., strives to bring excellence to the gospel industry by the adage, “To thine own self be true.”

     During the taping of the 2012 Stellar Awards, BMI hosted their annual gospel luncheon. The venue was standing room only filled with a gospel music lover's who's who of the industry. Honored for the afternoon was Kirk Franklin and Bishop Hezekiah Walker. Pastor Hez took time out to talk with me on the red carpet right before the ceremony.     Nashville, TN -- Rising Gospel music superstar Vashawn Mitchell topped the list of winners during the 27th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards announced Saturday night during the show's taping at Nashville's iconic Grand Ole Opry House Theater. Mitchell took home six awards, including Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Contemporary Male of the Year and Praise and Worship CD of the Year for his 2011 album, "Triumphant."
